Hand luggage rules

Hand luggage rules differ from airline to airline, with some offering a cabin case as standard and others only allowing a small personal item.

You could find a flight for £8.99 with one airline and £30 with another, but the £30 flight might be better value because of the luggage included in the case price, so, It's worth knowing how much you'll have as standard with the most popular short-haul airlines in the UK, so you know the best-value flight to book.

The following list applies to flight-only bookings, some tour operators also include a checked bag as standard when booking a package holiday.

British Airways

Included for free:

  • One personal bag such as a handbag or backpack (40x30x15cm including handles, pockets and wheels)

  • One cabin bag weighing up to 23kg (56x45x25cm).

Jet2

Included for free:

TUI Airways
