Pirates, we all love Venice — and for good reason! It makes for the perfect European city break. Easy and cheap to reach, it's full of great food, culture, history and very romantic!
It's no wonder why it's such a popular tourist destination.
As many as 80% of visitors spend just one day in Venice, leaving no real financial support. That's why they are introducing an entry fee for one-day visitor. The entrance fee will be charged on the busiest days between April and July. The introduction of the Venice entrance fee has been met with mixed reactions, but the funds raised support the preservation of the city's heritage.
The price of a ticket in 2025 is €5 if you pay at least four days in advance. A ticket bought last minute costs €10. You can buy it here, you will get a QR code that you must show upon arrival.
It is valid in the historic part of Venice, on the island of Giudecca and on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
People staying overnight in Venice (including Mestre) are exempt from the fee, but must submit an appropriate application. Children under 14 also do not pay.
This year, the fee will be in effect for 54 days, starting 18 April, but only on specific days. The admission ticket only applies to tourists visiting the city between 8:30 am–4 pm. Outside that time frame, the city can be visited without paying the fee.
