There are some great new affordable long-haul routes from low-cost airlines like Norse Atlantic, restarted routes from Edinburgh to Dubai and short-haul routes to get your Europe summer fix.
British Airways will relaunch their Heathrow–Kos, Greece route from May 2024, for the first time since 2022.
BA are launching a route from Heathrow to Izmir, Turkey in May 2024. This will be the first direct route from London Heathrow since 2019.
Since March 2024, you can fly from London Heathrow to Bangalore, India on this new route from Virgin Atlantic. Prices start from around £500 return. British Airways also offers this route, and prices are similar.
Low-cost airline, Norse Atlantic Airways, launches a brand-new direct route to Cape Town starting from October 2024. Prices start from a little over £500 return, which is a steal compared to other airlines offering the route from £800+.
Norse Atlantic Airways have launched a new route to fly passengers from London Gatwick to Las Vegas, and flights start from under £400 return, which is around £150 cheaper than alternative airlines offering the same route.
Singapore Airlines launch new London Gatwick–Singapore route, running five times per week, from June 2024. Previously, passengers had to travel from London Heathrow or Manchester for this direct route. This flight costs twice as much as indirect routes, so it's definitely on the pricier side.
Passengers will be able to fly from London Stansted to Amman, Jordan with this new flight route from Royal Jordanian Airlines. One-way routes start from £257 in Spring.
Fly with British Airways on this new route from London Stansted to Ibiza. The route starts in May. You may find cheaper prices as this route is already offered by Ryanair and Jet2.
Weekly weekend flights will be available through British Airways from May on this London Stansted–Nice, France route. The prices are similar to Ryanair and Jet2 on this route, but you'll have better luggage allowance with BA over Ryanair.
Another new route from BA from May, fly from London Stansted to Florence, Italy. This is the only direct route from Stansted to Florence, but prices aren't the cheapest.
Ryanair has recently just opened a base in Dubrovnik, Croatia. You can now fly from London Stansted to Dubrovnik from as little as £12.99 one-way.
Ryanair launches a brand-new route to Sarajevo, so you can fly to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina from London Stansted from £19.99 one-way.
EasyJet launch a new route from London Luton to Reus in Spain with flights from £33.99. They're the only airline offering this route.
In March 2024, easyJet opened their Birmingham hub, which introduced new direct routes from the airport to various destinations. Most of the routes are also catered for by alternative airlines like Jet2, Ryanair and TUI, but this will give travellers even more flexibility on dates and prices.

Jet2 will launch a new route from Birmingham to Lesvos in Greece from May–October running on Sundays. Prices in June and July range from £120–180 return.
You'll be able to fly to Tivat, Montenegro from Birmingham on this new route from Jet2. It will run weekly on Thursday from May, and twice a week with an additional Monday flight from July. We've seen prices in May–June from £100–200 return.
TUI will launch the only direct UK route to Luxor in Egypt from Manchester airport starting in November 2024. We saw prices from a little over £400 return, which considering indirect routes are closer to £500, is a pretty decent price.
Emirates are relaunching their daily Edinburgh–Dubai flight route from November 2024. The route has been on hold for almost four years due to Covid. Emirates is the only airline operating this direct route and prices are from £551 return.
You can now fly direct from Edinburgh to JFK airport, New York with JetBlue between May–September 2024. This route is also catered by alternative airlines and prices are similar, but this will give passengers more daily time options.
EasyJet will relaunch their route from Newcastle to Amsterdam in September 2024. These flights are around £60-£80 cheaper than KLM on the same or similar dates, but easyJet doesn't include hand luggage.
EasyJet will relaunch their route to Alicante for the summer from Newcastle. The route is also operated by Ryanair and Jet2, prices with easyJet are around £100 cheaper than Jet2 in September and are similar priced to Ryanair.
Fly direct with TUI to Sal, Cape Verde with their new winter flight routes. Prices vary, last-minute dates can be snapped up from under £300 return.
Wizz Air has swapped their Edinburgh to Budapest flights to Glasgow departures instead. You'll be able to bag some low-cost flights with this budget airline to Budapest for summer 2024.
EasyJet will launch a brand-new route from Glasgow to Enfidha in Tunisia starting from May 2024. This route is also catered by TUI, and flight prices are similar, but the new route will give passengers more flexibility on dates and times. You'll be able to nab flights from under £200 return.
Fly from Glasgow to Bucharest from November with this new route launching from Wizz Air, it was previously running from Edinburgh. The low-cost airline will offer flights from under £30.
From December 2024, Lufthansa will be launching a new route from Glasgow to Munich. That means you can fly to some of the best Christmas markets in Germany from Glasgow.
