At last, some good news. Ryanair, will increase its free cabin baggage allowance “over the coming weeks”. Yes, that's right! But why?
Ryanair’s current free “personal bag” size is 40 x 25 x 20cm – about 20 litres in volume. This is no longer allowed under new EU rules, which require a dimension of 40 x 30 x 15cm. If Ryanair were to adopt this, it actually would have meant a 10% reduction in volume. Instead, they've opted to increase their luggage allowance to 40 x 30 x 20cm – a volume of 24 litres. A surprsing, but welcomed decision for us all!
If you saw the numbers above and your brain just skimmed the rest, that's totally fair. In a nutshell, you can now bring a bigger bag on your Ryanair flights. Winning! But don't do it straight away...
A spokesperson for Ryanair said: “This change will be implemented over the coming weeks, as our airport bag sizers are adjusted.” (Independent) So keep your eyes peeled for it being officially rolled out.
