Shipwreck on Zakynthos could disappear

Zakynthos has become increasingly important as a holiday island in recent years. Not least because of the famous Navagio Beach - but the shipwreck on the beach is in danger.

Navagio Beach on the island of Zakynthos is one of the most popular attractions, and is the reason many travellers visit the island. But the shipwreck on the beach is in danger of being washed away.🤯

To secure the shipwreck, locals and tourism operators are calling on the authorities to intervene. In addition, there is a great willingness on the island to provide financial support, including the community itself.

The beach was closed to guests last year. Standing on the sand, swimming in the bay and anchoring ships were prohibited; excursion boats were only allowed to drop off their guests at certain points for 20 minutes. The reason for the closure was a significant risk due to erosion of the surrounding cliffs.
