The Department of Transport has announced that hand luggage liquid restrictions are being temporarily revised at the six UK airports with 'Next Generation Security Checkpoints (NGSC)'. Make sure you're aware of these new rules before travelling.
Six UK airports are now fully operational with 'Next Generation Security Checkpoints (NGSC)', this meant that because of the high-tech CT scanners the 100ml liquid restrictions for hand luggage had recently been scrapped.
The airports included are:
Newcastle
Leeds Bradford
London City
Teesside
Aberdeen
Southend
This was a breakthrough in the travel world, but the Department of Transport has just revised the rule, effective from today (9 June). This is due to continuous improvements on the new systems.
Passengers travelling from these airports will now need to follow previous airport liquid restrictions. Which means packing all liquids in a clear bag, and they must be 100ml or less per liquid.
All other UK airports were not yet fully operational with the new scanners, therefore they remain unaffected as the restrictions were still in place.
