Top under-seat hand luggage bags for low-cost airlines 🌍

Hey Pirates, if you're anything like me, you try to avoid all the add-ons and extras low-cost airlines try and convince you to buy. If nothing else, out of principle.

Call me crazy, but I've even taken just a rucksack of clothes for a 10-day holiday before. Was it hard? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably. 🤪

Whether you're packing for 10 days like me (unlikely) or packing for a weekend city break (much more likely), you'll need to make sure you've got a great bag to hold it all.

Keep reading for the best-value under-seat bags we've found. 👇

When thinking about buying your next under-seat bag, you'll need to take into account that most low-cost airlines have different dimension limitations. For example:

Ryanair Size: 40 x 20 x 25cm

Wizz Air Size: 40 x 30 x 20cm

easyJet Size: 40 x 36 x 20cm

Wizz Air size bags will fit on Wizz Air and easyJet, so that's also something to consider when trying to get the most bang for your buck.

RUCKSACKS

1. Cabin Max Metz Stowaway

This durable and lightweight rucksack is specifically designed to fit under the plane seat. It maximises space while staying within airline size limits. It offers multiple compartments for organisation, which is great.

It is a great option, particularly considering it's under £35.

2. Ecohub 20L Max

The spacious main compartment can be opened up as if it were a suitcase, so it's easily to get your stuff out. Its well-thought-out pockets and elastic straps are great for organisation, particularly of bulky items like shoes and clothes. You can also adjust the side straps so you can compress the rucksack, once it's been packed, allowing you to pack more.

The best bit is the built-in USB charging port - essential for anyone on the move.

3. Ecohub 20L

Not too dissimilar from the Ecohub rucksack above, this bag is particularly good for those who need to take their laptops with them for them trip. It's got a thick, deepened design with foam padding for laptop protection.

HARD SHELL CASES

1. Flight Knight Cabin Hard shell Suitcase

If you're looking for a hard shell suitcase, this budget-friendly bag is a lightweight, strong & reliable option. It has four multi-directional easy-glide wheels and a telescopic handle, so is easily manoeuvred. You can also secure it, if you want, with a 3-digit combination lock.

2. Cabin Max 20L Seville

This cabin case doesn't come with wheels, and instead has a strap to maximise your packing space. The durable ABS shell is perfect for when you need to protect more fragile items like, electronics, camera or toiletries, while travelling. Given that its such a small case, it's unlikely to weigh too much, so carrying the hard case on your shoulder shouldn't be difficult.

DUFFEL BAGS

1. Narwey Travel Duffel Bag

This water-resistant duffel bag has two big mesh pockets and a separate zip pocket for organisation. It easily attaches to a suitcase, if you're also planning on carrying a separate case, and it comes with short and long straps, so you stay comfortable while travelling.

It's also the cheapest of the lot, at less than £15.

2. Fioretto Duffle Bag

A personal favourite - this duffle bag technically extends to 45 x 36 x 20cm, but can be zipped up to 40 x 20 x 25cm too, so it fits multiple airline dimensions restrictions. So, once you've gone through boarding, you can take off the extra 4 layers you had put on and pop them in the bag, once it's extended again. It also has various straps so it can carry it over your shoulder, in your hand, or as a rucksack. It also easily attaches to a suitcase, if you're carrying hand luggage as well as your personal item.
