A dream opportunity to volunteer with turtles between October 2025 and April 2026 on a paradise island in the Indian Ocean. Accommodation included.
Are you ready for a real adventure with a positive impact on the planet?
Do you have experience monitoring sea turtles, or have you always dreamed of contributing to wildlife conservation? Then you might be the right fit for Nature Seychelles, one of the most active environmental NGOs in the Western Indian Ocean.
This volunteer experience takes you directly to Cousin Island Special Reserve, a nature reserve in the Seychelles where critically endangered hawksbill turtles return to nest. You could be part of the team that protects them. 🐢
The project runs from October 2025–March/April 2026, with stays lasting three months.
Availability is limited:
October–December (1 place)
November–January (2 places)
December–February (2 or 3 places)
February–April (1 or 2 places)
Your role will be to support the conservation officer in the day-to-day management of the turtle monitoring program. Key activities include:
🌅 Daily beach patrols (including at dawn and late at night)
📝 Field data collection
💻 Entering collected data
Patrols are carried out in pairs, with rotating shifts. Each volunteer has one weekend off per month to spend off the island. The rest of the time? Relaxation, snorkelling, and total immersion in nature.
This project is based on Cousin Island. It is more than just a tropical beach: it is a jewel of biodiversity, with a turtle monitoring program active since 1970 and a long history of environmental protection.
You'll live in shared accommodations (kitchen and bathroom included), surrounded by unspoiled nature. Meals are not provided, so be prepared to organize yourself with the team or live with creativity and a spirit of adaptation.
