Women-only Antarctica cruise for adventurous travellers 🙋🏻‍♀️

An Aussie cruise line called Aurora Expeditions is offering something a bit different – a women-only expedition cruise. They’ve been running small group adventure trips for over 30 years, and they know what they’re doing, especially when it comes to solo travel.

This particular cruise is heading to Antarctica (yep, seriously) and it’s designed just for women. It’ll last 10 days and is set to sail from 23 February to 4 March 2027 – that’s prime travel season down there, by the way. The ship’s called the Sylvia Earle, named after the legendary marine biologist, and it’s fully kitted out: a heated outdoor saltwater pool, whirlpools with a view over the polar landscape, plus a wellness area with a gym and sauna.

The idea is to give women a space to connect with each other, swap stories, and just enjoy the experience in an all-female environment – no need to explain yourself or share the hot tub with a stranger called Steve.

The cruise kicks off from King George Island in Chile, and you’ll be heading off on Zodiac rides, landing on icy shores, and spotting whales, seals, penguins and seabirds. If you’re feeling brave, you can even go for a dip in the Antarctic waters. Extra activities like kayaking and hiking can be booked too. You’ll be guided by a professional expedition team made up of female scientists and local experts who’ll also be giving talks on board.

Need-to-know & booking info

This is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip, and it’s designed for adventurous women who aren’t afraid to go off the beaten path. But just a heads-up – Antarctic cruises do get some criticism when it comes to environmental concerns, so it’s worth reading up on that before booking.

Still, if you’ve ever fancied ticking Antarctica off your bucket list and doing it in the company of other brilliant women from around the world, this could be the perfect way to do it.
