Pirates, this is BIG news for theme park fans 👀
Universal has officially revealed the name of its first-ever UK and European theme park: Universal United Kingdom Resort.
The giant resort will be built near Bedford and is expected to open in 2031. Plans include a world-class theme park, hotels, entertainment, shopping and dining areas, with Universal expecting millions of visitors every year.
The resort is expected to become one of the biggest theme park destinations in Europe, with Universal aiming to attract around 8.5 million visitors during its first year alone. 😱
Universal is pouring more than £5 billion into the project, with the government also investing £1.3 billion to improve transport links and infrastructure around the site.
Concept images show huge themed lands, massive rollercoasters, a lakeside entertainment district and the iconic Universal globe welcoming visitors at the entrance. 🎢✨
Construction is now getting underway, with more than 20,000 jobs expected to be created during the build and a further 8,000 once the resort opens.
If everything goes to plan, UK theme park fans will finally be able to experience a Universal resort without flying across the Atlantic. 🇬🇧✨
