There might be slightly cheaper options, but we went for the Fiat 500-type car in the hope it'd be the Fiat. Gotta drive the icon in Italy, or at least try?! :)

Additional Information

Our example itinerary (it can of course be adapted according to your wishes):

  • Naples

  • Procida and Ischia

  • Mount Vesuvius

  • Pompeii

  • Sorrento

  • Capri

Even if you've been to Naples before, the area is worth returning to. Naples is very different from the surrounding towns and villages. Indeed, she is dynamic, noisy and very Italian. Depending on your preferences, spend a day or two there and taste delicious regional specialties at low prices.

From Naples, you can leave your car in a private car park (if you rent one), and then take one of the ferries to Ischia and/or Procida. Ischia is larger and a bit more touristy but worth a visit for its thermal waters, medieval castle and Mount Epomeo. If you want a quieter stay, the neighboring island Procida is full of charm with its fishing port and colorful houses. Do not hesitate to go around the island by bike to see its various treasures.

Once back in Naples, you can drive or take a bus to the foot of the Vesuvius volcano which towers over the city of Naples. The climb to the top is not very long or difficult, and if you are lucky with the weather you will enjoy a great view!

Before discovering the rest of the coast, make a stopover - and not the least - in Pompeii for a leap into history. The ancient Roman city of Pompeii and its ruins are particularly large and with very little shade so plan plenty of time there.

Once the Gulf of Naples is over, head for the Amalfi Coast for magnificent scenery! If you want to save on accommodation, the town of Sorrento, just before the coast, offers more economical options. It is also very well connected by ferry and car parks are cheaper there.

During your adventure in Amalfi, the stops not to be missed are Positano, Praiano, Amalfi and Ravello and its gardens (villa Cimbrone).

To finalize this trip, you can go through the chic island of Capri. Similar to the Amalfi Coast, this is a slightly more expensive destination so if you want to sleep there, consider the quieter and more charming village of Anacapri.

*We might be Pirates, but we’re an honest bunch. We check all our deals when we review them to make sure everything is available. Here’s the catch: with deals this hot, things change quickly: flight prices fluctuate, hotel rooms sell out, currencies yo-yo. Mainly, demand for the best deals means the lowest prices don’t last long. But, if you’ve missed out this time, don’t worry: we’re working on more great offers.
