Pensacola Beach

Downtown Pensacola

Downtown Pensacola is perfect for those who like a side of culture with their beach holiday.

Centred around the recently renovated and lively Palafox Street, the historic district is packed with independent boutiques, galleries, cafés, breweries and excellent seafood restaurants, all within easy walking distance. Just around the corner, Historic Pensacola Village tells the story of the city's Spanish, French, British and American past, earning Pensacola its nickname, the City of Five Flags.

Visit on a Saturday morning for the popular Palafox Market, or plan your trip around Gallery Night, when the streets come alive with live music, art and late-night dining.

Don't stop at Palafox Street. For another side of Pensacola's cultural story, venture into the historic Belmont-DeVilliers neighbourhood, an important centre of the city's African American heritage, shaped by generations of music, art, community and Southern food traditions. Stop by Five Sisters Blues Cafe for a taste of Southern soul food and the musical character that continues to define the area.

Perdido Key

If your idea of paradise is quieter beaches and untouched nature, Perdido Key is the place to be.

1. Watch the Blue Angels at the National Naval Aviation Museum 🛩️:

Pensacola is known as the "Cradle of Naval Aviation". Head to this world-class museum to see over 150 restored aircraft, try flight simulators, and watch the legendary Blue Angels practise overhead from the museum's flight line - and best of all, it’s completely free to enter!

🏴‍☠️ Pirate tip for jet spotters: The team usually holds practice sessions over the museum on select Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between March and October. Visit on a Wednesday practice day, and you might even catch the pilots visiting the museum atrium afterwards to sign autographs!

Keep your eyes peeled as you climb - it's widely considered one of the most haunted lighthouses in America! If you visit during the day, make sure to pack sensible footwear, as flip-flops aren't allowed on the spiral staircase.
