Warm-weather destinations in November

November is a great time for travelling, especially if you're hoping to find some heat and affordable trips! In Europe, you'll get to benefit from cheaper hotel and flight prices as it's the shoulder season, and you can bag bargain deals to countries like Cyprus and the Canary Islands, where temperatures hover in the mid-20ºCs in November. Further afield, Mexico’s Baja California along with Orlando promise glorious weather and water temperatures during November, not to mention the Dominican Republic. Here you might endure the occasional light shower, but it usually passes as quickly as it comes.

November is also the best time to visit the tropical paradise destination of the Seychelles. If you are a fan of diving or snorkelling, these waters have amazing visibility, with temperatures sometimes reaching 29ºC. If we turn our eyes to the east, Goa in India and Thailand also boast temperatures round the 30ºC mark during November.

Here are our top eight destinations for a warm-weather holiday in November!

1. Cyprus

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 22°C

In the beginning of November and up until halfway through the month, Cyprus is a great go-to-destination for those in pursuit of warm European weather. Here you can expect temperatures ranging between 22°C on the west coast and 23-24°C on the southeastern coast, along with generally cloudless skies.

2. Canary Islands

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 21°C

Another safe choice and decades-old favourite winter sun destination for us Brits are the Canary Islands, topped by Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Lanzarote is also a good shout. High temperatures hover round 23°C, with lows still a pleasant 18°C; November is the perfect time to go hiking.

3. Baja California, Mexico

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 21°C

If you are longing for a Mexico holiday in November then Cabo San Lucas on the west coast is your best bet, which is sunnier and less humid than Cancun to the east. The average high is 30°C with fairly low precipitation and you can expect fewer tourists than in the months to come.

4. Orlando, USA

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 25°C

In Orlando, you can look forward to highs of 25°C and glorious sea temperatures of 26°C as the year comes to a close. Orlando is a great option if you're travelling as a family, as there'll be fewer crowds and some bargain hotel deals. There are plenty of activities for young and old and a trip along the Florida coast is mesmerising.

5. Dominican Republic

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 27°C

Technically the last month of hurricane season, November is still the low season and favoured by many travellers. You can expect lower prices for flights and accommodation. Average temperatures in the Dominican Republic hover around 27°C with highs of 30°C, which falls to a pleasant 23°C at night.

6. The Seychelles

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 28°C

November is one of the best months to visit the Seychelles, which offer calm seas, warm winds and great underwater visibility. This is also the time when Hawksbill turtles lay eggs. Temperatures range from the mid-20°Cs to highs of 30°C; sea water temperatures can reach up to a balmy 29°C.

7. Goa, India

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 28°C

In Goa, India, you can enjoy highs of 33°C and lows of 22°C, making November one of the hottest and most popular months to visit. You can expect most days to feel quite dry, with an average of nine hours of sunshine per day, plus the gorgeous landscapes here will be lush and green in November.

8. Thailand

🌡️ Average temperature in November: 31°C

November is a great month to visit Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand, as the rainy season has just passed but it isn't yet insufferably hot. It's a great time to explore and enjoy some beach time. Temperatures will range from 27°C to 30°C, with short downpours in the afternoon that pass quickly.

The best city break destinations for November

Transition from autumn to winter with a city break getaway this November. The slightly warmer days of October have been left behind and the upcoming peak season of December travel to popular Christmas destinations makes November an ideal month to snag a cheap holiday.

From warm-weather locales to hidden gems right here in the UK, here are our top choices for an ace November city break.

1. Bath, United Kingdom

While the beaches of the UK are not so appetising as autumn closes in, you can wade through warmer waters in Bath, one of the UK’s best autumn destinations. Bath is great for a mini break and is a particularly excellent choice for a romantic getaway. First take a walk through the old Roman Baths, where thermal waters still run naturally to this day.

Then treat yourself to a day at the Thermal Bath Spa, where you can experience Bath’s natural geothermal waters the way the Romans did. Finish up your weekend by treating yourself at one of the city’s best farm-to-table restaurants. If you want to include some nature during your stay, then head into the nearby Cotswolds.

2. Málaga, Spain

With temperatures hovering around 20°C and sunny days, there’s a reason why Málaga remains popular long after the tourist season ends for holidays in Spain. Take advantage of the warm weather by exploring some of this city’s best architecture, from the Alcazaba Palace and Fortress, the ruins of the Roman theatre and El Castillo de Gibralfaro.

If it's warm enough, head down to San Julian beach for a stroll or travel further down the coast to resort beaches in places like Marbella. Stuck with a rainy day? There are plenty of museums - like the Museo del Vidrio or the Picasso Museum - to keep you occupied.

3. Las Vegas, USA

Las Vegas pulls out the stops all year round, but you can avoid the scorching summer days with an autumn trip, where you can still expect mild weather (16-21°C) and plenty of sunshine. Wander through the booming Arts District - if you can, catch the monthly First Fridays party - and grab a bite to eat. As night falls and temperatures drop, head indoors to catch a show, sip cocktails or try your luck at the casinos.

If you need a break from hitting the slots, take a day trip to Death Valley (2-hour drive) or the Grand Canyon (4-hour drive). Death Valley is impossibly hot in the summer, making November an ideal time to visit, while you'll avoid the usual crowds on your trip to the Grand Canyon.

4. Lisbon, Portugal

The ultimate Portugal destination, Lisbon is a breathtaking place: you’ll get a full sensory workout as you walk up and down the streets, from scenic overlooks to tiny blink-and-you’ll-miss-them restaurants.

While Lisbon is truly in the midst of autumn by the time November rolls around, you can still expect a fair amount of sun and mild days in the mid-teens and low-20s.

Use those warm-weather hours for outdoor exploration in neighbourhoods outside the city centre. As the evening cools, take your pick of local restaurants offering fine port wines and some of the freshest seafood you will ever eat.

5. Marrakesh, Morocco

Morocco is a top winter sun destination every year, and trips to the coast are especially popular. However, given that wind and rain start to hit the coast in November, Marrakesh may be the safer option!

A summer city break in Marrakesh means that you're usually contending with almost unbearably hot temperatures; November is much more comfortable with an average temperature of 20°C. Once you're there, the city is a delight for all the senses. The sights and sounds of the street markets are a must, and don't miss out on the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Do as the locals do and enjoy your morning coffee outside to really take it all in.

6. Reykjavik, Iceland

For something a little bit different, head off to Reykjavik in Iceland. Yes, it's true that Reykjavik won't offer the same warmth as the other destinations on our list - in fact, it might even be colder than back home!

That said, if you're looking for a cosy November holiday, then Reykjavik has a whole lot to offer. It's a fantastic city to explore; visit the sights like the Hallgrímskirkja or the National Museum of Iceland. November is also an ideal time to enjoy Iceland's beautiful natural wonders; make some time to book a few day trips. Stop by an ice cave and book a tour to try and catch a glimpse of the world-renowned Northern Lights.
