What's more, many of the UK's most beautiful spots are particularly well-suited to group holidays and offer plenty of different types of accommodation for groups.
Cornwall is a great shout if you are looking for a family holiday in the UK. Since it's on the South Coast, it offers a milder climate and hundreds of beaches—a great way to enjoy a beach holiday without having to endure a flight with the kids. You will find a range of accommodations in Cornwall perfect for families. You could stay in a family-friendly room in a hotel, B&B, or private cottage, or you could opt for a glamping trip (choose from lodges, treehouses, and more), where you often get an awesome choice of amenities—maybe even an outdoor swimming pool!
The Lake District is a well-known spot for family holidays if you are choosing to stay here in the UK. Depending on the type of holiday you are after, the Lake District has it all. York is a small, stunning city in North Yorkshire. It's a super cute locale with many activities on offer for you and your family—for example, there are many museums if you want to combine your holiday with some education. Head to The York Dungeons if you love ghosts and ghouls or take part in one of the many ghost walks and tours in this allegedly haunted city. Summer is a great time to visit York but we also recommend planning a trip from the end of November through December, when the Christmas Markets are in full swing.
One of the East Coast of England's little gems is Great Yarmouth. The resort town offers a long, sandy beach with many activities to do as a family on holiday. The UK weather can be unpredictable so if the sunshine lets you down you can head to the sea life aquarium to see some sea creatures or for some kid-friendly thrills you could visit The Pleasure Beach and Joyland amusement parks, which have many rides suitable for families.

Family holiday parks in the UK
If you’re not too fussed about the location, then holiday parks make a great break for the whole family. Luckily, there are loads of great ones dotted around the UK that are great fun and great value for money. This type of family trip comes in many different forms, but mostly involves plenty of activities. They’re definitely for the more adventurous types, with the onus on activities rather than sitting back and relaxing.
Typically holiday parks will usually have a huge pool with slides, plus plenty of other outdoor activities like cycling, that will keep the kids occupied for the whole stay. There are plenty of different types of accommodation to choose from too. You could stay in a typical hotel, but many operators offer camping sites or caravans to stay in. They are also designed with families in mind. That means there will be care facilities for younger kids and some operators are now designing specific packages for families with children of a certain age.
If you want to play it safe, you can go with a well known holiday park operator like Haven, who have parks across the country, from Cornwall to North Yorkshire. Buttlins and Centre Parcs are other famous options, but shop around if you want a more budget option. Booking early is another way to take advantage of special offers, with most operators offering lower prices for early bookings.
Fun in the sun - Family holidays abroad
All inclusive family holidays
Family holidays should be fun, but if you’re caring for young children, they can also be stressful. Planning activities, meals and budgeting aren’t high on anyone’s holiday to do list, especially when there are sun and beaches to enjoy. That’s where all inclusive packages come in.
It’s pretty easy to see the benefits. You know the price for the package, know that all your food and drinks are included in the price and that there are usually plenty of free activities and entertainment taking place, especially for kids. That leaves more time for you to sit back, relax and take it easy. There are loads of different types of family holiday packages. From sunning it up and taking it easy at a resort in Spain to a fun-filled trip to Disneyland Paris, you’re sure to find the perfect package deal for your family. If you have a young family, check out our tips for your first time flying with a baby.
Kids go free holidays
As well as being a good budget family option, some resorts also offer kids go free discounts. Some all inclusive resorts offer this option, but there are also many other family package deals that offer discounts for children. The clue is in the name here! Whatever holiday package you book, one child will get the flight and hotel for free as well as access to all the facilities and the same boarding benefits.
Looking out for these offers can help save you lots of money, especially if you need to travel in peak months or during school holidays. It pays to plan ahead. Places are usually at a premium and if you’re planning to travel during peak season, we’d advise booking many months in advance, rather than last minute. Terms and conditions will depend on the provider and what type of holiday you book, so always check the small print. Generally, kids up to 11 or 16 years old are eligible, but there are usually some other conditions, such as one child per two paying adults.
